Glow with this headset

Sporting extremely bright, blue LED lights that glow through the outer mesh grill on each earcup, the headset has fully customisable lights and soundscape, thanks to the SteelSeries Engine software. Do not be fooled by its design. It’s incredibly lightweight, sports an over-the-head suspension design coupled with an active noise-cancelling microphone and circumaural earcups that feature 50mm driver units.

It’s covered in grey leather cushions to further dampen sound from the outside. With the active noise cancelling, “smart”microphone system, it can retract when not in use. There is no word on pricing just yet at press time, although additional details will be revealed when the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Frost Blue Headset hits the market sometime in the second quarter of the year.

HIGH-END COMPACT CAMERA
Canon (www.canon-europe.com) is back with what looks like another winner — the PowerShot G1 X compact that delivers dSLR levels of image quality, thanks to a large CMOS sensor, while offering full control despite coming in a highly portable metal body. If you are a casual shutterbug who wants more than what a regular digital camera can offer, without the bulk of a dSLR, then the Canon PowerShot G1 X fits the bill.

This new flagship compact will merge a large 14.3-megapixel Canon CMOS sensor based on EOS technology alongside its powerful DIGIC 5 processing, where it is capable of delivering an enhanced maximum ISO of 12800, while the exceptional 28mm wide-angle 4x optical zoom lens with 4-stop Image Stabilizer with Intelligent IS ensures most, if not all, shots are crisp and vivid.

You also get full manual control, 14-bit RAW shooting and DPP compatibility. Want to record that particular moment in video? Not a problem, as you can do so in Full HD quality with stereo sound to boot.

DUAL-VIEW CAMERA WITH WIFI
With its new DV300F digital camera, Samsung (www.samsung.com) intends to change the way digital cameras work yet again. This has a 1.5-inch front-facing LCD display that makes sure you can capture even the most difficult shots from various angles. A Child Mode shows an animation to keep the kids occupied and in place while you compose the portrait. Apart from that, you won’t be left out of the picture, thanks to a visual Self Timer that allows you to run into the frame on time.

Samsung also ups the ante by making the DV300F its first DualView model to deliver WiFi connectivity, allowing you to upload snapped photos and video directly to social media sites such as Facebook, Picasa, Flickr and YouTube without having to connect to a computer.

A microSD memory card is the preferred storage medium of choice and, with Samsung’s AllShare Play and Microsoft SkyDrive cloud service compatibility, there are even more options than ever to store and share your pictures as long as there is Internet connection. Other features include a 16-megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom and 25mm wide-angle lens.

FUTURISTIC MOUSE
The ThermalTake Level 10 M Mouse is definitely something out of the ordinary. Very rarely do you see a regular peripheral look as though it’s from the future, but ThermalTake has definitely outdone themselves this time, thanks to its collaboration with BMW Group subsidiary DesignWorksUSA (www.press.bmwgroup.com). This particular mouse is an inspiration from the Level 10 GT computer case that also looked futuristic, carrying along with it an aesthetically pleasing and functional design.

The Level 10 M Mouse might seem rather fragile, but it is hardy enough for everyday office use and abuse, being ergonomic in design while sporting a perforated palm surface that will create a passive airflow so that your sweaty palms remain cool and dry. In order to adjust the ThermalTake Level 10 M Mouse’s hollowed out body, just turn a screw on the top side until your palm finds a particular sweet spot. Price not available.
